Osijek, Croatia. June 4, 2017. Tatiana Kosheleva managed to beat Croatia in an enthralling game to solidify their top 3-1 (25-22, 25-21, 20-25, 25-15) in Pool A of the women’s World Championship qualifier to secure their qualification to next year’s World Championship in Japan. Russia stormed through with a powerful maul and the home side were left flat footed. Russia emerged from each match victorious, ready to ride a wave of momentum into the World Championship. The tightly contested match could afford no margin for error and Tatiana Kosheleva took a slender advantage with Maria Frolova to score 14 and 13 points. The home side scored the try that mattered as Samanta Fabris touched with a vital twenty-point.

“I am happy that this tournament has come to an end and we will now have some time to rest,” said Russia middle blocker Irina Zariazhko-Koroleva. “We played a good game against Croatia.”
