Pau, France. June 9, 2017. Russia attempted to break through but lost to the hosts France in the re-match 1-3 (12-25, 25-22, 21-25, 18-15) in Pool F1 of the 2017 FIVB World League. Russia has learned the virtues of perseverance, there will be a fresh start with, should all go to plan, a clearer route by which to make up for lost chance. It was a depressingly familiar situation, but Dmitriy Volkov and Ilyas Kurkaev both scored 12 points. Stephen Boyer is a rangy figure who has the strength and awareness to threaten when playing up against defenders or in deeper areas and scored 20 points for his team.

In the second Group stage of Pool F1, Russia will be played with USA on June 10 at 17:30 local time.
