U19MWCH – Russia racked up a hard fight, but lost to Iran in the 1-3 claim second place

Riffa, Bahrain. August 27, 2017. Russia racked up a hard fight, but lost to Iran in the 1-3 (20-25, 23-25, 25-21, 20-25) claim second place of the 2017 FIVB Boy’s U19 World Championship at the Isa City Sports Hall. Iran stamped their authority on the game from the whistle and grabbed three sets within one hour and fifty-one minutes. However, the second set was a different story, as Russia took control of possession and Iran were forced to take a break, Russia’s tactics paid off as Pavel Tetyukhin went over from controlled ruck. Iran though showed their class with Porya Yali getting over the line, convert and then spike over to seal the win in 25-20.

In the Awarding Ceremony, Pavel Tetyukhin was awarded as best outside hitter, and Artem Melnikov was also received a prize as a best middle blocker.
