The Secretary General of Russian Volleyball Federation (VFV) Alexander Yaremenko emphasized that the head coach of men’s national team Sergey Shlyapnikov stands the task of ensuring a direct ticket to the 2018 World Championship. Selection to the tournament is in prospect for Russians in the end of May, these games will be the first for the team under the leadership of the new head coach.
– “Selection for the World Championship is a very important competition”, Yaremenko quoted. – “Even in the case of failure in this qualification, we will have other options for selection. But this is an additional waste of strength and nerves. Therefore, it is necessary to solve the problem immediately in order then quietly to be prepared for other starts.”
“This is a very difficult tournament with frequent flights, long distances,” Roman Stanislavov said. – “It starts in the beginning of summer, when the club season only ends. In many leading players, the fatigue is accumulated, there are injuries. They need time to recover. Therefore, in the world league give the opportunity for those who play a little by the fact, who infrequently goes to the platform in the matches outside the national team.
